Friends, family and students of Haskell Indian Nations University of Lawrence, KS, traveled to Standing Rock, ND to join Water Protectors in their mission to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. Many thousands of people from hundreds of Nations and from all directions of the world have come to camp and actively protect the water. The pipeline would travel through sacred grounds, burial grounds and the Missouri River.  Should the pipeline leak into the river, it will poison the Water for Millions of people.  #NODAPL #STANDINGWITHSTANDINGROCK

Our Story

Merkaba Wellness Center and Spa was a long time dream of its creators. We planned extensively to create a space that utilizes as many World Traditional healing techniques as possible and house them under one roof.  Once the beautiful Lawrence, KS location was found, we knew it was the right time to implement our plans. Each practitioner is well trained and have many years of practice in their respective fields. We continue to educate ourselves with the forward progression of each field.

Meet our Practitioners

Our Practitioners were hand picked for their dedication, expertise and continued education. Because of the profound healing practices  and sacred nature of the traditions housed in Merkaba, it was of utmost importance that our Practitioners show a deep connection and honor to the roots of their practice when hired. Many of our Practitioners have learned their healing practice in the country of its origin and have been given permission to practice.  Paying special attention to traditional importance and implementing that importance in their sessions with our community, is one way we feel these nations are honored for the development of their healing traditions. It is because of them that our amazing team can offer so many world healing traditions to you.

We are honored to house some of the most powerful Healing practices on the planet and a Healing team to match.

Thomas E. Speers arrived at the path of massage therapy the way a river arrives at the ocean - a long and winding journey that ends up exactly where it was always going. He was introduced to the art of touch therapy by his late mother, who worked as a massage therapist when he was a teenager. As a second generation therapist, Thomas feels that he is fulfilling part of his soul's purpose on earth. A native Kansan, Thomas attended Boulder College of Massage Therapy during a 10 year residence in Colorado and graduated from BCMT's 1000 hour program in 2010. He specializes in a therapeutic yet relaxing Deep Tissue massage. His unique firm and fluid style utilizes a blend of techniques borrowed from many modalities. With strength and grace, Thomas's massage balances the physical benefit of therapeutic work with an energetic and intuitive awareness. He is deeply passionate about physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness, and comes to the table with an authentic and genuine care for the holistic well-being of others. When not serving humanity through massage, Thomas enjoys brunch, literature, the arts, nature, yoga, bicycling, his vinyl record collection, and cat videos.

Jerrica was pulled toward Massage Therapy and the Healing Arts by Yoga, running and something that can only be called intuition. It was through these practices that she discovered the beauty of taking care of your body and feeling grounded.  She studied at WellSpring School of Allied Health in Lawrence, KS.   Over the years she has learned to slow down and continues to learn how to listen to her body. Through this learning, she is able to inform her work and perception. Jerrica believes healing starts within ourselves, and can then trickle out into the world, affecting our families and careers, as well as other people's lives in ways that we may not be able to see or comprehend. Through her work, she aims to support the body's natural ability to heal while offering a space of calm and rejuvenation. It is important to her that every body feel comfortable and nurtured in her presence, which is necessary for healing. Her motto is, “Heal yourself, heal the world.” Over time, she has realized that healing truly is full circle and every aspect of life plays into it.  Her current techniques include Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. In her free time, Jerrica loves being outside, practicing and learning about yoga, enjoying time with her family and friends, and hanging out downtown.
